Common Questions

Everything you
need to know.

We believe an informed client makes the best decisions. Below are the questions we hear most often — answered honestly.

01

How long does a bathroom renovation take?

A standard full bathroom renovation typically takes 3–5 weeks from the start of demolition to final handover. A master ensuite is usually 2–4 weeks. Larger or more complex projects — spa suites, double bathrooms, or projects involving structural changes — may take 5–8 weeks. We provide a detailed programme before any work begins so you know exactly what to expect.

02

Do you offer a full project management service?

Yes. McMillan Tiling Projects manages the complete renovation process including demolition, waterproofing, tiling, fixture installation coordination, and final clean. We work with a trusted network of plumbers and electricians and can coordinate all trades on your behalf, giving you a single point of contact throughout.

03

What areas of the Sunshine Coast do you service?

We service the entire Sunshine Coast region — from Noosa Heads and Sunshine Beach in the north, through Buderim, Maroochydore, and Mooloolaba in the middle, to Caloundra in the south, and throughout the Noosa and Blackall Range Hinterland. For unique or large-scale projects we consider enquiries outside this region.

04

What is the cost of a luxury bathroom renovation?

Every project is unique and we don't quote from a price list. As a general guide, a premium full bathroom renovation with high-end materials starts from around $35,000. Master ensuites with bespoke stone work range from $45,000 upwards. We provide a detailed fixed-price proposal after a site consultation and material selection session — there are no hidden costs.

05

What tile and stone materials do you recommend?

We work with the full spectrum — from large-format porcelain (practical, durable, wide format up to 1200×2400mm) through to natural marble, travertine, limestone, and handmade ceramics like Zellige. The right material depends on your space, lighting, maintenance preferences, and the overall aesthetic. We guide every client through material selection as part of our consultation process.

06

Do you handle waterproofing?

Yes, and we take it seriously. All wet area work includes membrane waterproofing to Australian Standard AS 3740. This phase is never subcontracted — our team applies and inspects all waterproofing. We consider it the most important part of any wet area renovation and it is fully documented and guaranteed.

07

Can I supply my own tiles?

Yes, client-supplied tiles are welcome. We ask that tiles arrive on-site at least 3 days before installation begins so we can inspect for damage, confirm quantities, and plan the layout. We take no responsibility for material defects in client-supplied product, but we will advise you if we identify any issues before installation.

08

What is the process from first enquiry to start on site?

First, we have a phone or video call to understand your project. We then visit the site for a detailed measure and consultation. From there we prepare a fixed-price proposal and a sample material selection for your approval. Once accepted, we confirm your start date — typically 4–8 weeks from proposal acceptance depending on our current schedule. We then manage everything through to the final reveal.

09

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. McMillan Tiling Projects holds a current QBCC (Queensland Building and Construction Commission) contractor licence. We carry full public liability insurance and all work is covered by the statutory warranty period required under Queensland building law.

10

Do you work with interior designers and architects?

Absolutely — in fact some of our best work has come from designer collaborations. We understand how to read architectural drawings, work to specified materials and finishes, and coordinate with other trades on site. We welcome trade enquiries and can provide references from design practices we have worked with.
